Way up north in Thailand, very close to the infamous “Golden Triangle”, the center of the once thriving, ancient opium trade, is the town of Chiang Saen. That is where the Sisters of Providence, led by the highly committed and energetic Sr. Janda and four other Sisters provide this wonderful care facility for more than 60 marginalized hill-tribe girls. While there these fortunate young women receive a safe, secure place to live removed from all the risks and hazards present in their home villages up in the nearby mountains. They receive counseling, soft skills training, social responsibilities, while attending local secondary and high schools. Some of the older girls, now attending university, stay closely connected with the Sisters and serve as role models and coaches to the younger girls.
