This is a wonderful school in the Koenawin Township of the Kayin State in Myanmar. Run by a dedicated education monk, in this one location they currently house and feed nearly 500 kids as of my most recent visit.
Since those reports were written, the new dormitory building for girls has been completed and occupied. I was fortunate enough to attend the grand opening ceremonies on a recent trip. Here are a three photos from that special day.
The leaders at this monastery school are working to improve their sustainability. While not yet fully sustainable, they have made great strides in that regard with their work in making candles for monastery and home usage, producing various soaps (both bar and liquid) and by producing and selling purified water.
Koenawin still needs support. You can help by clicking here. Make sure to note your tax-deductible donation is for Koenawin Monastery School and we’ll send it directly to them.
