Baan Baan Rai (meaning “Home With Love”) is a small care-facility for abandoned children located about 30 minutes outside Chiang Rai. Housing just 25 girls and boys, it is run by a very dedicated and energetic woman called Jit, who operates this facility on the back portion of her family property. With no aspirations for growth, she is pretty self-sufficient but for one exception. She is always in need of a little extra money for food and school expenses as the kids attend local schools for their education. Now, Jit is proud to have three of her kids attending university. Quite the impressive achievement considering the histories about how these kids ended up living at BSR.
Facilities here are limited.
Recently, Jit was able to build a guest house to provide living accommodations for volunteers. Pretty basic, but certainly sufficient.
This is one of my favorite places. Twenty five hi-risk children are housed here in this special care home located on the back portion of her family’s property in the village of Mae Lao, about 25 Km. south of Chiang Rai, Thailand. On May 6, 2014 Mae Lao was at the epicenter of a 6.0 earthquake that hit northern Thailand, and Baan Saan Rak suffered extensive damage. With the help of our generous donors, and in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Maechan, Thailand, we were able to get two severely damaged buildings torn down, three new buildings constructed, and repairs made throughout the rest of the facility.
More recently, we were able to fund the construction of a new three-story building to provide housing for the girls, a small medical center, study rooms, and volunteer housing.
Here is a video showing a bit of the life the kids enjoy as they live as a large family at Baan Saan Rak.

Jit is always in need of a little help for food and school expenses for her 20 children. She would welcome your support.
